During an official visit to Belgrade, Angola’s Foreign Minister Tete Antonio highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between Angolan and Serbian companies to aid Angola’s economic transformation and industrialization efforts.

Antonio stressed that his visit involved serious discussions aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation, notably marked by the signing of an Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Academic Qualifications with the Serbian government.

“We aim to sign an Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investments, which will provide guarantees for companies and businesspeople, ensuring their investments are secure,” Antonio stated, also mentioning ongoing discussions about a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement.

He expressed Angola’s support for Serbia in all its peacetime efforts, citing Angola’s own experience with 25 years of war and the value of peace. “We support Serbia in all its peacetime efforts because we know that it contributes to our peace and peace in the world,” Antonio concluded.

Serbia’s Foreign Minister Marko Đurić emphasized the long-standing friendship between Serbia and Angola, rooted in economic, social, and political ties. He noted Angola’s unwavering support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, particularly regarding Kosovo and Metohija. Đurić also expressed pride in Serbia’s historical support for Angola’s anti-colonial struggle and acknowledged Belgrade as the first capital in the region to recognize Angola’s independence.

Đurić reiterated Serbia’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with Angola, recognizing the successful operations of Serbian companies in the fields of food production, construction, and energy in Angola over the past decades.
