The OPENS initiative from Serbia, which promotes an open community for knowledge exchange on energy solutions and sustainability, is among the top 10 winners of the global “Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future” competition organized by the Schneider Electric Foundation.

According to the announcement, since 2016, OPENS has continuously worked to make Novi Sad an open city for young people, their ideas, and to support the social development of the entire community, aiming to spread this energy throughout the country.

Winning initiatives also come from Greece, France, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Cameroon, Lebanon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia. They were selected from hundreds of applications from three continents. These initiatives represent leading innovative solutions for a more sustainable world through fair transition, skills training, and entrepreneurship.

The “Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future” project was launched to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Schneider Electric Foundation.

The global competition focuses on professional training, entrepreneurship, and fair transition, and the winning project will receive a prize of 50,000 euros during the COP29 climate summit in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The selected projects will also gain greater visibility through the global channels and networks of the Schneider Electric Foundation and Ashoka.
