Air Serbia has proudly announced the appointment of Vanja Marceta as the first female captain in its ATR fleet, marking a significant milestone for the national airline.
Thirty-two-year-old Marceta took her first flight as captain on the Belgrade-Budapest route on 14th July, following her promotion.
Marceta began her career at Air Serbia in 2016 as a first officer on Boeing 737-300s and transitioned to ATR aircraft in 2022. “Being appointed captain is a milestone in the life of every pilot; it’s considered the pinnacle of one’s career and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream,” Marceta stated.
Air Serbia highlighted its other trailblazing female captains, including Neetu Rakic, who flies the wide-body Airbus A330-200 and is the first female captain on long-haul flights, and Vesna Aleksic, the first female captain of the airline’s Airbus A319 and A320 narrow-body aircraft. The airline also employs six other female flight crew members and over 300 cabin crew members.
