“Empowering the Future: Cleaner Energy, More Equal Opportunities” is the rallying cry of an innovative and imaginative campaign spearheaded by the EU Delegation in Serbia and its partners for this year’s Green Diplomacy Week, commencing Friday.

According to the EU Delegation, the campaign is oriented towards engaging the public, policy makers, artists, and environmental activists in collective endeavours to heighten awareness about climate change, its implications for Serbia, and the requisite measures to address these shifts.

Through a blend of panel discussions, artistic expressions, and workshops, events will galvanise participants to take meaningful strides towards a sustainable future.

“This summer, Serbia experienced some of the most extreme heatwaves. We also witnessed major floods and devastating storms. However, this isn’t exclusive to Serbia; it’s a global issue. Serbia, Europe, and the world at large grapple with climate change, biodiversity loss, and alarming pollution levels. Yet, we all harbour a shared hope – that our offspring will inhabit a planet unmarred by adverse climate impacts. Join us next week during the European Green Diplomacy Week in cities across Serbia including Belgrade, Niš, and Novi Sad. We aspire to make a modest, yet robust contribution to a global climate solution. Let’s collectively affirm our resolve to act for the climate, our planet, and Serbia,” articulated Emanuele Žiofre, the EU Ambassador to Serbia.

The focal theme of this year’s Green Diplomacy Week is the “global fair energy transition”. In line with the tenets of the Paris Agreement, there will be an emphasis on globally accelerating the adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, an arena where the EU could potentially share invaluable expertise.
